Soberon Coat of Arms from a Stone Carving

This artwork was created from photos of a stone carving found on the side of this old home in Spain.  My client had traveled there and took these photos of this stunning estate tucked away in a tiny town in Spain.  Her family’s ancestors lived there, and likely commissioned the carving on that building.  I was honored to be comissioned to create a work based on that history.

I used burnished gold leaf on the shield and then a mixture of raised white gold, copper and yellow gold on the design on the shield.  I painted on 300lb hot pressed paper with ink and watercolor.  This piece will hang in their new home as a celebration of the family’s history and their travels.
